Okinawa

Discover a distinct island culture shaped by subtropical sun, white sand, mangrove forests, and the Ryukyu Kings’ era.

Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost prefecture, is a series of islands with its own history as an autonomous kingdom. A uniquely subtropical climate, and the origin of karate.
Explore the remains and reconstructed castles of the Ryukyu rulers. And stunning beaches and coastlines teeming with coral and sea life.
Come for the whale viewing and dragon boat racing, the unusual flora and wildlife. And the island attitude that allows you to forget the clock and follow the sun.

How to Get There

Most flights to Okinawa’s Naha Airport depart from Tokyo or Osaka on the Japanese mainland.
Direct international flights to Okinawa from China, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Every day, flights from Tokyo to Naha on Okinawa’s main island. And direct flights to the outlying island of Ishigaki are available.
Seasonal direct flights to Miyako Island are also available. From Naha Airport, you may also connect to the outlying islands of Miyako, Ishigaki, Yonaguni, and Kume. The best method to move about Okinawa is via renting a vehicle, or in specific locations, by bicycle or scooter.

Don’t Miss :

  • On the main island, there are UNESCO World Heritage monuments. Such as Shuri Castle and the remains of Tamagusuku.
  • Whale sharks and the interesting, diverse water life at Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.
  • Swimming in beautiful blue ocean and relaxing on white sand beaches
  • Kayaking in a mangrove swamp on the distant island of Iriomote
