Seoul is a popular destination in South Korea, thanks to its magnificent architecture, history, food, and K-pop. Anyone can find something compelling in this City. Some parts of the City looks like you are time traveling in the past. And some parts of the City look like straight from the future. To sum up, you experience history, present, and future in this city at the same time.
Fashion- and technology-forward mecca with deep traditional roots, 24/7 City that mixes, temples, cutting-edge design, and mountain trails, with neverending K-Pop beat.
There are 3 points why I’m such a big fan of this City.
History
The self-made wonder that arises from the ashes of the Korean War. That has a fascinating vision of the future and appreciation for the past in the World Heritage-listed sites such as Jongmyo shrine, in the alleys between the graceful hanok (traditional wooden homes) in Bukchon. Changdeokgung, also known as Changdeokgung Palace (창덕궁과 후원 [유네스코 세계문화유산]) or Changdeok Palace. Located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, South Korea. One of the “Five Grand Palaces” built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty. And Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty. Not such a popular one, but undoubtedly very magnificent. The Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty refers to the 40 tombs of members of the Korean Joseon Dynasty. Overall there is 18 locations across South Korea.
Beyond the Walls
Public transport is perfectly organized, and you should extend your travel horizons beyond the city limits. The fearsome Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), splitting South from North Korea, is a powerful reminder and a perfect day-trip.
24-Hour City
Seoul can provide Whatever you want. At any time of day or night. An early-morning temple visit can lead to a palace tour. Followed by tea-sipping in Bukchon and gallery-hopping in Samcheong-dong. Soju (most popular alcoholic beverage in Korea) and snacks in a street tent bar will fuel you for shopping at the people packed Dongdaemun or Namdaemun night markets. Partying in Hongdae or Itaewon, or singing in a self-service karaoke noraebang. Follow this with steaming, soaking, and snoozing in a jjimjil-bang (sauna and spa). By the time you look at your watch, it will be dawn again.
