Hey there,
I’m speaking directly to you, my media comrades, and anyone else tuned in. We all know the drill: endless hateful comments flooding our feeds. I’ve faced it for over 5 years and seen others endure it too. It’s time to stop turning a blind eye.
Let’s face it, most of these insults have nothing to do with who we are. They attack our looks, speech, and actions, weaving ridiculous fairy tales under the guise of anonymity. Seriously, who decided online humiliation is acceptable in 2024? Since when did hate become synonymous with success, something we just have to ‘deal with’?
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
These comments don’t faze me anymore. I laugh them off, but why should I even have to read them? It’s like being physically assaulted and just accepting it. Absurd, right? Yet, that’s our online reality.
Remember when workplace humiliation was the norm? Zoomers changed that, and it’s time to do the same with online hate. This behavior needs to be called out and stopped. I always defend others against such attacks. You have no idea how much that support means.
A study by the Pew Research Center found that 41% of Americans have experienced online harassment, with 66% witnessing it happening to others. This isn’t just a minor issue; it’s a widespread problem that affects us all. Source
We need public lists for these trolls, linking their hateful behavior to their real identities, impacting their social standing and job prospects. Some gaming communities and countries are already doing this.

With this post, I aim to:
- Voice a collective stance: Hate isn’t the price of fame. It’s vile and must be eradicated. We need to unite against this trend.
- Encourage you to repost this. One post can make a huge difference. Let’s support each other and bring attention to this issue.
What do you think? Let’s discuss in the comments.
